File this update in the ‘better late than never’ category.

Back in December of ‘08 (you remember faithful reader, it was back when the economy was bad but we still had hope that it wouldn’t be too bad) we conspired with some friends – Around the Bend Willow Furniture and Bryce Ritter and Son Furniture – to do a show here in our gallery space on the farm.  The weather co-operated (for once!) and turnout was good for our little event.  We didn’t have time to take as many pictures as we would have liked, but the ones we did take are here for your viewing pleasure.  Our gallery showroom hasn’t looked as good since!

Unfortunately we were under represented at our own show due to the overwhelming crush of Christmas orders we were asked to create.  Some of those will be upcoming this month, as I push the Christmas in April angle for all its worth.  Like I mentioned in an earlier entry, since our site was down for updates for about 6 weeks or so we’ve got a whole hard drive full of new items, commissions and general unseen images.

But just so we aren’t constantly trapped in the wayback machine, here’s a set of images from our work for the Virginia Duathlon and Kale Running:

As you can see in the above set of images, our showroom looked much better when we had help decorating it!  Our work has a lot going for it, but it is just not comfortable to sit in.

All joking aside we were honored to be asked to provide the awards for the 2009 Virginia Duathlon – again!  The images above are the actual awards you received if you were good enough to win in your division.  Congratulations from us to all the racers.

Instead of adding another element to our homepage I’ve decided to put show updates here in the blog section.  Enjoy!

Well, we’re back from another great show in Wilton, CT. First off, I’d like to thank all the customers who came out to support us and the show overall, and a special thanks to those who braved the chill of an early Saturday morning to participate in early buying. We had the best early buying Wilton show yet, and we obviously couldn’t and wouldn’t do it with out you, the faithful client.

Next I’d like to thank Marilyn Gould and the Wilton Historical Society for organizing the show and making it the smoothest load-in and load-out so far. Even though the show was a bit smaller this year than last the quality of the artists did not suffer at all. There was some great work we saw (and purchased!) from the Shooners, the Cobles, Will Kautz and Around the Bend Willow furniture.

So, without any further prattling on from me, here are some images from the show for those of you who missed the event, and for those of you who were there but missed early buying!

Just about everything pictured in the booth shots and individual shots found new homes with happy customers, but the Chess Pieces, Angel, and Mermaids were particularly popular. We are still taking orders for Christmas, but time is running out and we’ll need to have a cut-off sometime soon – mainly due to the amount of Custom Commissions we have committed to. Try saying that phrase three times fast! So if you’d like a special gift for someone you know – or for yourself! – let us know soon.

Also don’t forget, if you are in the Southside Virginia area we are going to open up our studio showroom to Bryce Ritter and Son Furniture and Around the Bend Willow Furniture on Dec. 6th and 7th from 10 till 5. We’ll put a link up to the show card and map as soon as we get them in, or you could sign up for our e-newsletter (below) and we’ll send all the info direct to your inbox!

Winter has snuck up on Fall here in old Princess Anne County and beaten it about the head and shoulders with a cold hearted vengeance. We had tomatoes and peppers still on the vine up until the past weekend, but I’m afraid they have been denied a chance to make it onto a dinner plate. We actually had snow flurries here yesterday – which is about as normal around the farm here as a day off. We may actually get some *gasp* snow this year.

Just as long as it’s after December 7th!
