From W. Rice re: prelim sketches:
1) The eyelashes are going to be important and they look good in the sketch on the top
2) The nose and lips are also really important and they both look excellent in the top sketch
3) I like the way the arm is back and flowing and the size, shape and orientation of the fingers
4) I do not want the tail to curl over itself, as in the bottom sketch – it can go straight back
5) We talked about having some cut-outs to let the light through – hard to tell if there are any from the sketch, but the hair seems a natural place to fit a few in
6) I would like the end of the tail to be sharper and less rounded – see image 5 which shoes a sharper tail fin – it doesn’t have to be that sharp, I just don’t want it to look like stubby fingers when the rest of the lines are so graceful
7) The scale of the tail fin can be a little smaller relative to the body
1) I like the face and facial features of image 1 the best. The lips and nose and eyelashes and lines of the face are all perfect and I like the way the hair is a bit tussled and busy around the scalp area.
2) I like the body of image 8 – hair cutouts look good, the lines of the body and breast are proportioned well, the tail scales look good and I like the way the fingers are pointed and the tail fin looks great.
